SUMMARY:Cape Fear Literacy Council - Words of Inspiration
DESCRIPTION:View full details HERE \nFrom poetry and fiction to memoirs and mythology\, the written word has the power to spark our imaginations in ways unique to every individual. We invite you to explore the visual representation of our favorite Words of Inspiration in this upcoming community exhibit. \nThe works will be on display at ACME Arts in the beautiful Brooklyn Arts District of downtown Wilmington. Opening reception is Friday\, July 25\, 2025 from 6-9 pm. \nAs guests experience the artwork\, they are encouraged to reflect on the profound significance of words\, language\, and comprehension—considering how the ability to read shapes our understanding of the world around us. The absence of this fundamental skill can deeply affect one’s connection to ideas\, stories\, and even basic communication\, reminding us of the importance of supporting literacy for all. \nNow Accepting Submissions:\nArtists are invited to submit works that draw inspiration from a piece of text—be it lyrics\, poetry\, a passage from a novel\, or even a quote that resonates deeply. The artwork should either incorporate the text directly into the piece or include it as a separate element alongside the art for context. \n“Words of Inspiration” aims to explore the diverse ways in which literature and language can inspire visual expression\, highlighting the emotional and intellectual impact that written words have on our lives. \nIn addition to showcasing these powerful visual interpretations\, the show will raise awareness about the importance of literacy and will support Cape Fear Literacy Council\, a local nonprofit dedicated to promoting literacy in our community. Your work will contribute to both the celebration of visual expression and the advancement of a vital cause. \nPlease read the Artist Submission Guidelines (link below) before submitting works to this show.

DESCRIPTION:Mindfulness Meditation in the Galleries\nFriday\, June 20\, 9 – 9:50 AM | Free Introductory Session\nJoin us in a contemplative gallery space for an introduction to mindfulness meditation\, taught by Certified Teacher Bonne Lynn Anderson. \nSimply put\, mindfulness is the practice of bringing attention to the present moment and meeting whatever arises without bias or criticism. Her lifelong interest in spiritual practice has led her to explore a range of teachings\, with this practice in particular emerging as her most effective and accessible path. Her teaching style is friendly\, grounded\, and welcoming to all experience levels. \nNote: The galleries can be cool—bring a garment for comfort. \nREGISTER HERE\nLearn more about Wellness at CAM here.\nFor questions or concerns regarding accessibility\, please contact Georgia Mastroieni\, Deputy Director of Operations at (910) 726-9492 or georgia@cameronartmuseum.org

SUMMARY:2025 WARM NC Gala: Fire & Ice
DESCRIPTION:The gala is WARM NC’s biggest fundraising event each year. 250 attendees come together for food\, drinks\, dancing\, and fun! The event includes interactive elements as well as a live and silent auction. \nYour sponsorship or ticket purchase means we’ll be able to continue to serve the 300+ families who are on our waiting list. \nThese families have to decide if they’re going to put food on the table or fix that soft spot in the floor. They have to decide between paying the electric bill or taking care of that leaking faucet. Faced with those types of decisions\, the house is going to lose every single time. \nYour ticket purchase or sponsorship makes it possible for us to take care of that soft spot in the floor and fix that leaking faucet\, or whatever repairs are needed to make a family safe at home again.
